It’s funny, I never make New Year’s resolutions and yet here I am almost one year to the day after my first post on the blog thinking ‘I should probably post stuff more often.’ I think my subconscious makes resolutions each year whether I realize it or not. It’s not that I really feel the need to post more often, per se, but writing down my thoughts helps me become accountable for where I am. Sometimes this is good, and other times not so much. I guess I already gave the whole spiel about wanting to force myself to do more things, and this has never been more true than now.
We are moving away from Dallas and I’m already feeling slightly panicked about leaving anything un-checked on our “Dallas To Do List” (yes, I actually made one). Luckily, with all the time that we had off for the holidays, we were able to see and do a lot of things on said list. For starters, we went to Oddfellows for brunch on New Year’s Day, and we even took the 90 minute wait time (I know) as an opportunity to take a little stroll through the neighborhood. Which, you know, was completely dead being New Years Day and all, but the baby was asleep in her stroller and the weather was perfect. We got the buffalo mac ‘n cheese (which was rated the best mac ‘n cheese in Dallas in 2011 – I didn’t know that was a thing), the pancake sampler, and huevos rancheros and it was all so, so good. Apparently it was so good that I didn’t have any time to take any pictures of it before we scarfed it all down.
After kind of a disappointing New Year’s Eve, it was nice to have an almost surreal New Year’s Day. I’m taking this as some sort of cosmic good omen that 2014 will be a really great year.
